A SAFE place to access information on domestic violence and family law is behind Katherine Manby’s business venture at Springfield.
Ms Manby left a position at Legal Aid to start VM Family Law last month.
After two weeks running the business the first member at Little Tokyo Two and moved operations to the World Knowledge Centre-based space.
Ms Manby said easy access to legal advice was crucial.
“It’s really hard for people in theat (domestic violence) relationship to find the time or get out of the house to get legal advice,” she said.
“They could also have a partner stalking or following them. So I’ve created an online meeting room. It’s not Skype or anything requiring an app that’s easily traced.”
“I wanted to find a way to get advice out to these people without them having to leave home.”
Ms Manby moved her business to Little Tokyo Two, where she said the low fees of hiring office space would allow her to do more pro bono work.
