With more than two decades of experience in the legal profession, Nikki Akins brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication and practical insight to her role as a paralegal at VM Family Law. Having spent the majority of the past 25 years working in family law and around 20 years in paralegal and law clerk roles, Nikki’s depth of experience is a valued asset to both clients and the VM team.

Nikki began her legal career straight out of school, initially stepping into a junior legal secretary role. From there, she steadily worked her way up through positions as legal secretary, paralegal and law clerk, gaining hands-on experience across several areas of law including litigation, criminal law and personal injury before ultimately finding her professional home in family law.

Drawn to VM Family Law for its warm, supportive culture and long-standing reputation, Nikki already had a strong working relationship with the firm before joining the team.

Having previously worked with Lynn, Kiara and Yash, she knew she was stepping into an environment where professionalism, kindness and teamwork are at the forefront.

Nikki is energised by the fast-paced and ever-changing nature of family law, appreciating that no two days look the same. She thrives on problem-solving, helping clients navigate complex circumstances and bringing a grounded, down-to-earth approach to her work.

She believes in keeping matters clear, calm and constructive, supporting both clients and solicitors through what can often be emotionally challenging situations.
